Video Transcript for Torflex Lift Kit Feature Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Number 10 Torflex two and five-eights inch lift kit for a single axle. Now, this lift kit will raise your trailer frame to provide two and five-eights additional inches, between the trailer frame and the axle. The kit will include the spacers, the mounting hardware for a single axle application. This is designed for use on trailers with a single Number 10 Torflex axle with a 2300 pound to 4000 pound capacity. Does include everything shown here, two of the number ten frame spacers, in the bag here, the hardware is 12 plain washers, eight locking hex nuts, eight hex screws, and a set of detailed instructions on how to install everything. And then I just want to give you the measurements of how much lift it's going to give you.

It's going to be right at two and five-eights inch. But that should do it for the review on the Number 10 Torflex two and five-eights inch lift kit for a single axle.

Package arrived quickly and tracking communication was great. The install took a couple of hours and was easy due to the great instructions. I will agree with another review in saying you better have some upper body strength if you are using a torque wrench. 130-150 ft lbs takes some effort. The parts fit perfect and gave me the lift I needed.

by:

Worked just as they said it would. Only took a few hours with hand tools. If I were doing this more than once I'd have an impact wrench instead of a ratchet. So far I have never had a bad experience with etrailer. Ordered on phone Wed, received it on Friday. What more could I ask. The trailer axle had been replaced by previous owner and the tire rubbed the fender. etrailer walked me through on who to contact and determine which Dexter spacer I needed. Great sales reps and thanks Paula

179SE riverside Retro:
Simple installation
and good quality.
Arrived in good time and took an afternoon to install by myself. Lifted the trailer up as I go a lot of places off road. Takes away a bit from the retro look as the old trailers were pretty low to the ground but the benefit of ground clearance makes up for that. Strongly suggest this if you go off road as it brings sewer drain up which is the low point of the trailer.

by:

Lift kit was used on Jayco X17Z Camper, as I wanted to do more rural camping and gain better ground clearance, as this camper is very low in the first place.
Product was great and everything fitted nicely with no issues, see pictures. The only issue I had was with the nuts and bolts, they were quite tight on the threads, certainly won't come undone.

by:

Quick easy install. Took about 2 hours to do both sides.
Having an impact wrench make it easier, but it can be done with hand tools.

One photo shows the lift kit installed. And the second shows to wheels not tucked up in the wheel well. (sorry I have no before photo)

by:

Kit was just what I needed. Was able to install it myself, the only difficult part was getting the trailer completely off the ground and placing solid jack stands. Otherwise super easy install with regular tools. Gained about 2 1/2 inches on clearance.

by:

Perfect fit - added the extra clearance needed. Before and after photos attached.
Also went from 14"to 15"wheels.

Was a retrofit for my 2018 Forest River Flagstaff A-Frame Model 21TBHW. Dexter #10 Torflex axel No drilling or welding but tires do need to be off for the lift bracket install. Instructions provided are well written & clear. You will need jack stands and a good torque wrench to complete the install correctly. No issues with brake cables being short. If you can or have rotated your own tires this should not be a problem for you. Bolts have to be torqued and even with a great torque wrench and a 3 foot pull arm you are in a tight spot so if you can't bench press 150+ you need to get a battery or air impact torque driver. Hope this helps. I am very happy with the install and got about 3.5" of lift easy to see in the photos.

I chose this product to alleviate a steep driveway issue and difficulties draining my black/grey water tanks due to low clearance. After receiving excellent advice from Jon G on the proper lift kit for my 2013 Airstream 16' Sport with a single #10 Torflex Axle, the lift kit was shipped and received in record time.

I read the instructions thoroughly and safely lifted the trailer and secured with jacks while supporting the axle with a floor jack. While the instructions from Torflex were ok, the described application to my trailer was slightly different as the lifts faced the inside of the trailer rather than the outside as shown. They also state that each bolt has exactly one washer placed on the nut side, where in another place states that for the down facing bolts, there is to be one under the head of the bolt as well. In my application, there was not room for the latter as the heads of the bolts were too close to each other to allow, so I went with one washer on the nut side.

Though the inward facing lift bracket did not affect the theoretical installation, it did make it much harder to gain access to the bolts and put the correct tools in place, especially around the belly pan for the black/grey water tanks. I eventually was able to get all in place and torque to the specified value.

Be aware that you will need to re-adjust the hitch ball height and recalibrate the weight distribution system.

The results were fantastic and I no longer drag my sewer pipe on the driveway!

by:

The trailer is a Palomino Solaire 147x. Installation was straightforward. The lift in combination with taller wheels and tires accomplished the desired ride height.

by:

What can I say besides this is a very straight forward product, includes quality coating and fasteners and good straight forward install instructions. Easy install on my jayco x17z and gave us the clearance that specific camper desperately needed.

Quick tips: repack/rebuild your bearings while you have the trailer off the ground and wheels off. Don't forget you may need to take into account the added height with your steps, stabilizer jacks and tongue jacks next time you use them!

by:

Have a dexter#10 on my 16’ Casita deluxe model. Fit just as it should, paint on brackets was already chipped but..who really cares. Not a chance they’re powder coated, looks like spray paint. Highly recommend backing whatever trailer you’re putting these on, up onto wood blocks or bricks to achieve the height of the lift first, that way you only need to lift the trailer high enough to get the blocks out and you’re ready to install. Also I used a square underneath the trailer to mark alignment points for after the lift was installed to insure the axle was indeed aligned with the trailer. This lift kit was cheaper than an 8” drop hitch for my truck, highly recommend it!!

by:

I installed the K71-707-01 lift on a 2017 Airstream Basecamp. It took a little over an hour with help from a friend. The minimal paint chipping on the lift blocks was easily remedied with black spray paint in 30 seconds. Hardly something to worry about. The key to install is having a short socket for the bolts as little room exists between brake drums and other parts of the assembly. A pair of vice grip pliers is also very helpful in holding the opposing side of the bolt from spinning while tightening/torking the nut in place. Lastly, be sure that you have two wooden blocks to set the loosened axel on after detaching. If you set the blocks 3” below the axel while jacked off the ground, the lift blocks slide in place perfectly. Super easy and inexpensive modifications.

by:

This kit was extremely easy to install. Great color directions came with it. On our 2019 E-Pro 19BH travel trailer it was as simple as remove 4 factory bolts (2 per side), lower the axle a bit, place lift block, & install 4 new bolts per side. With this kit, new wheels, & tires we were able to gain 4 inches of lift for our camper. Our waste holding tank drain pipe & valves were so close to the ground & we constantly would drag pulling into or out of areas. This gives us great peace of mind & our camper looks amazing to us now.

by:

Placed this lift kit on mt trailer. Lined up the hitch to vehicle’s receiver
Trailer towed much better, brakes worked better, handling improved and more ground clearance

by:

Installed this kit on a 2017 Airstream Sport 16. We boondock a lot and the ground clearance was a problem. The 3" lift was a perfect solution to even out the ride height and give extra clearance in the back. The instructions are clear and I was able to do the entire project alone in just over 2 hours. The metal spacer fits precisely on to top of the axle, no adjustments were needed. I used 2 jack stands, 2 floor jacks, and an air gun which is a must or it would take twice as long. One of the jacks was used to hold the axle and to lift it up after the spacer is fitted. The lift kit is very good quality (besides the paint) and I feel confident it will last. Easy with the right tools!

Been across the country and back, no handling issues whatsoever, can’t tell the difference from stock. It’s a keeper

by:

This worked well for my 2021 GeoPro 19FBS. The other lift, 2 7/8" the holes did not line up.

by:

Everything was perfect and got it quickly. Made a huge difference on the height of my trailer.

Awesome! Looks great, Brian. Any upcoming camping trips planned for the trailer?

by:

Arrived as promised. It was super simple to install. Did exactly what it was supposed to. Only issue I saw was that the torque specs for the new bolts were vague. They give a range of 125-175 ft/lbs. since they are grade 5 bolts I went with 145ft/lbs which is the high end of what that bolt should have.

by:

Perfect fit for the 2020 Geopro 19FD with the 3500# torflex axle. This resolves the issues with bottoming out on any road ramp angles and the ultra low tank discharge ports. The parts are really well made and the installation is simple. Be prepared for the 150 ft-lbs of torque on those bolts. (Always use a torque wrench!)

"Always use a torque wrench" are words to live by and what I tell my kids as I tuck them in every night. So glad there are like-minded folks out there!

by:

I ordered this lift-kit to solve a specific issue I had with my hitch shank needing to be so low in order for my trailer to be level. It was so low, the hitch would drag on my driveway.
These parts were of very high quality, and the instructions were fairly straight forward. They became more clear when the actual installation began. However, the instructions that were included with the parts was a very bad quality black and white copy. I asked customer service for an email with a better quality set, and within a few minutes I had an excellent copy of the instructions in my email.
The process was not too difficult at all. The only issue I had was getting the bolts torqued to the correct tightness, and this was due to the very awkward positions I had to be in to use the torque wrench. I was working on a gravel-like surface and I kept sliding due to not having anything to lever myself with, and the placement of the jack stands were in the way.
Overall, this was an easy install, but made more difficult with my lack of much mechanical experience.

by:

I shouldn't have waited to give these a review. They were great. All the holes match up, all the bolts are easy to thread, instructions were clear. it took me a couple of slow paced hours. The hardest part was torquing to spec, just because I didn't have a lot of room under the trailer to achieve great leverage. But if I had put the trailer a couple notches higher on the jack stands that wouldn't have been an issue.

Tools I used:Long reach floor jack, a half inch impact wrench with impact sockets for removal of old bolts, a matching open end wrench, a half inch drive torque wrench, gloves, jack stands, socket extension,... That may have been about it. Now the trailer has a little more clearance underneath. Don't forget to reconfigure your weight distribution hitch or ball mount for the change in drop.

by:

Installed on 2019 Airstream Sport 16RB. Fairly easy install if you have the equipment (jack stands, floor jack, torque wrench). Took about 2 hours. Picked up about 4 inches of clearance. Just ordered a double step to make it easier to get it and out of the trailer.

by:

Have a #10 axle and thought I had the right one that was the 2,7/8” lift but that one had a 9” wide bolts. Called in and trailer was great, found the one that had the 8” bolt width, ended up being the 2,5/8” single axle kit which I’m super happy with. Ow my plumbing and tanks are level or above my axles, little better for boondocks.

I recommend measuring the width of your bolts prior to ordering.

Thanks e-trailer and William b for your help and for sending a prepaid return shipping so I could get the correct ones.

I'm happy we could help find you the right kit for your axles! I'm sure the extra lift provides some peace of mind for keeping your tanks away from your axles.

by:

Straightforward instructions, only had to extend wires on my 2022 E-pro bunkhouse. Follow the instructions to the T and it’ll take a handful of hours. I’ve lifted a jeep and two trucks, so have lowered axels before, this was a piece of cake. Had to also adjust my equalizer hitch but after having two busted pipes from traveling, hoping this keeps them away from those deep potholes. Only time will tell! I installed on my own and love the result! Before and after lift pictures attached.

  • Torsion Axle Lift Kit for 2015 Jayco Single Axle Camper
